Making the Best Password
April 17th, 2010 by dion85 received No Comments »No sane person would ever want someone else reading your e-mail. Or in the case of someone else using your password and enter a financial institution. You must choose a strong password, security, and this would be a thorny problem for others and easy to remember. The more random and mixed up, the harder it is for others to crack. That yes, if your password is compromised, the password crackers, even taking care of your identity.
A password, if it is too short, is vulnerable to attack if an attacker takes over the cryptographic hash of the password. Today, computers are fast enough to try all passwords at least seven alphabetic characters. We call a weak password is short or if a default, or can be easily guessed by looking for a subset of possible passwords such as words in the dictionary, proper names, words on the name user or common variations on these subjects.
In addition, a password is sufficiently long, random, or may be produced by the user who has elected to “guess” it will take too long.
For added security, the user must follow some simple rules:
1) Passwords should be preferably at least 8 characters and no more than 14.
2) Passwords must contain a mixture of numbers, letters and special characters (&% @ M7 3ac_ht4).
3) Passwords should not contain a dictionary word in any dictionary, whether physicians French, Spanish, etc.
4) Each password must be different from the user’s user ID and any permutation of the user-ID.
5) The new password and old code should differ by at least 3 characters.
6) Do not collect names or nicknames of people, pets, or places, or personal information that can be easily detected, such as your date of birth, address, etc.
7) It is advised to stay away from common keyboard sequences like abc345 or dfgh678.
Never make a password if you add a digit to a word. It may be easy to guess.
9) Do not write your password or store it on your computer.
10) Do not share your password.
